Life at SOLINET is fast and there is always plenty to do! As you might expect in an organization of creative professionals, where the average age is 30, and there is a more or less even mix of males and females, the lifestyle is very much focused on getting results, but enjoying life at the same time.
Although we are a German company, we speak (and write) English at work and have people from so many different nationalities that we lost track about five years ago!
Beautiful parks all around
We have a busy week, but try to keep the weekends free. Most people arrive in the morning between 8 and 9, but there are allegedly some (crazy?) early birds that come in earlier to catch the peace and quiet before all hell breaks loose (as we say in Germany).
To keep things simple we operate a flexi-time system on a trust basis - instead of a 'clocking-in' procedure, people just record on their timesheet when they arrive and when they leave. Most people leave by 6 in the evening, but there are always some who work late. By the way, all time worked is paid - we don't believe in unpaid overtime.
All types of sporting facilities available
Most people have a lot of customer contact - the engineers, who volunteer for technical presentations and commissioning, really get to see the world. Although we have a principle to book economy class where possible, we do pay the travel time and don't pay attention to what people do with their air miles!
Also when arranging travel plans, we always try to offer the chance to spend a weekend or an overnight stop (for 1 day journeys) during the trip - after all when you go to all the effort to travel somewhere, you might as well get to look around whilst you're there...
Cross-country biking ...
We have an international mix of people and they arrange things outside work as well as inside. In the winter there are skiing trips almost every weekend, in the spring, summer and autumn there are lots of local places to visit. When Switzerland, France and Austria are within 2 hours drive you have to make the most of it!
Ski resorts just around the corner...
There is a good social contact outside the company with restaurant lunches, evenings out, squash, darts and ice hockey (roller-blading in the summer).
If you like to work hard and play hard, SOLINET is a good organization to do it in!
